Facebook Messenger New Features Include Home Tab, Birthday, Favorites Section and More

Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular messaging apps and it has now more than 900 million users across the globe. As other messaging apps like Snapchat has started rolling out new features, it makes sense that Facebook introduces new features to keep in step with competitors.


Facebook Messenger was updated, introducing several new features such as a new home tab, birthday, and favorites section.

The new interface of Messenger displays few recent messages at the top of the screen when the app launches. Facebook understands user’s behavior and messages of the most frequent users will be shown on the new Favorites section.

Another new feature called Active Now section in the Messenger app people who are currently online. Along with it, a new birthday section is also introduced. This section displays birthdays of your Facebook friends and will prompt the user to wish them a happy birthday.

The company said that the new updates were implemented “to make Messenger simpler to use by presenting more relevant information.”

A search bar is also introduced for the Facebook Messenger application, which will show similar search results like Facebook mobile search.

“Up until now, most inbox experiences haven’t kept up with the new ways people connect,” the Facebook Messenger team said in a blog post. “So, we’ve been thinking about how we can make it simpler and easier to find what you want to start a conversation.”

Recently, the California-based company rolled out a new important feature, which allows users to send SMS messages inside the app. Soon, all Android users will receive the new feature through an update NDTV reported. It is also worth noting that Facebook Messenger gave a tribute to the UEFA Euro 2016 championship by unveiling a new football game named as Keepy Up hidden app.
