Estefania Liset Mosquera Alcivar, who worked as a park concession worker, was in the country on a visa. She was from Quito, Ecuador.
Alcivar fell to her death in the canyon at Grandview Point in the early morning hours of Friday while she was socializing with friends. As reported by the New York Daily News, her companions saw her fall and called 911.

The victim’s body was discovered by search and rescue when the sun came up. She was recovered using a helicopter. The fall was deemed to be not survivable.
According to the park’s website, the Grand Canyon is 4,000 feet wide and 1,200 feet deep in several places. It has multiple waterfalls as well.
The death is under investigation.
Jose Verdezoto Mosquera, Alcivar’s relative, expressed sorrow over the tragic incident. “You have no idea how much I miss you. I’ll always remember you as that beautiful girl and full of life,” Mosquera wrote in Spanish on Facebook. “We lost you but heaven is so lucky to have won a beautiful and wise little angel.”

The park had hosted “An Evening at the Arch” event the evening before Alcivar’s death. Commemorating the NPS Centennial, the event included performances by notable personalities like Emmylou Harris, John Prine and Leyla McCalla.
In a statement, park officials called for visitors to maintain caution while using specific trails.
In June, an individual from Oregon died after walking off the boardwalk at Norris Geyser Basin and falling into a hot spring, the Daily Mail reports. A 13-year-old was killed earlier that month when his father, who was carrying the teen, slipped into a spring.
