The atmosphere in the dressing room became toxic after the coach unleashed scathing criticism of the players for losing against Leicester City. The coach felt betrayed by the players, and the players lost their faith on the coach. Finally, the Chelsea management decided to fire Jose Mourinho, their Portuguese coach.
The reigning champions have lost nine games in the Premier League this season so far. The man with a finely tailored suit and scarf failed to produce any magical ideas from the sidelines.
“His three league titles, F.A. Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history,” Chelsea club management issued a statement which said. “But both José and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.”
Chelsea lost to less fancied opponents like the Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Southampton at home. Mourinho was rehired by Chelsea in 2013, and he signed a new four year contract in August.
Dutchman Guus Hiddink is considered as a possible Chelsea coach.
