Drake’s ‘Views From The 6’ Spotify May 6 Release Date Update: Forecast Remains Positive
Drake’s move to launch his album exclusively on Apple Music initially surprised people but turned out successful as he poised to set a new streaming record. However, even with the supposed success on Apple Music alone, another side to the story says that the rapper’s new album is actually uninspired.Advertisement
It’s hold and cold for Drake as initial streaming figures suggest he can set a new streaming record even with just midway through the opening chart week. The impressive feat proved the superstar’s appeal and Apple Music’s power.
According to BuzzAngle’s hot-off-the-press figures via MBW, Views were streamed around 191.4 million times in just five days ending on Tuesday, May 3. Forecast is also positive as the album is expected to drop on Spotify, Amazon and other streaming services starting May 6.
According to Billboard, Views could sell over 850,000 copies in the U.S. in just the first week ending on May 5. Additionally, the total equivalent album unit sum is also projected to go over 1 million. Previously, industry sources estimated Views to have 800,000 sales start and over 900,00 in total units. The album is also on its way to debut No. 1 May 21-dated Billboard 200 chart. If this happens, this will be the rapper’s sixth chart-topper.
However, it is not all smiles for the superstar as Joe Budden had some things to say about the album. Budden, who also hosts the “I’ll Name This Podcast Later,” said that Drake sounds uninspired.
“I think that that kid on that album that I heard sounds real fuckin’ uninspired. That’s what I think. I think that that music is real good. You can’t fool a real nigga…That music sounds good and I enjoyed it…40, you sound amazing. 40 continues to progress. Drake, you do not,” XXL Mag quoted Budden.
