Drake Talks ‘Views From The 6:’ How It Was Made, What The Songs Mean, And Future Albums After ‘Views’
Drake will be releasing “Views From the 6” on Apple Music and iTunes at midnight April 29. But those who able to stream it loved it so much that it sent Twitter into a meltdown. The album has not officially landed yet, but fans will be happy to know that Drake promises more music, and they’re going to be so different from “Views.”Advertisement
Speaking with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Drake said that fans can certainly expect more and greater albums from him down the road. “I got some other songs in the stash. I’m gonna have an arsenal of songs that have nothing to do with Views.” But before that day comes, fans should certainly enjoy “Views From the 6.” Drake said making it was really fun, especially since he worked with Future.
“I went to Atlanta and spent six days with Future … He’s a machine. I’ve never seen anybody with that much of a catalog,” he shared. “’Jumpman’ was the last one of the tracks. ‘Digital Dash’…he had just bodied it so much. It was presented to me as a finished piece. I gotta do it justice.” Dinner, immediate group, “It was the kind of the birth of should this be the whole thing. That was the realization of, we’re gonna do this whole project together,” he added.
“Views from the 6” got a lot of raving and gushing from fans. But Drake knew a lot of the music there will be too complicated to immediately understand. “I don’t want you to get it right away … Great music takes a little work. It takes elevating your listening level,” he said.
Drake promoted the album “Views from the 6” with several memes. There is one with several “Drakes” sitting on a flight of stairs. He also made memes of Rihanna, dvsn, Popcaan, WizKid, Pimp C, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Future with Drake with them, just anywhere. He was even sitting on Rihanna’s shoulder! He posted these on Instagram captioning it “VIEWS.” Look at all the memes here.
Drake will be in Toronto, July 29 to August 1 for the OVO Fest. He would be joined by rapper Future. “Tune into a very special edition of OVOSOUND radio on Beats 1 this Thursday at 7PM PST / 10PM EST / 3AM GMT for a MAJOR interview with Drake by Zane Lowe (@zanelowe) @applemusic. #VIEWS,” he posted.
Drake’s “Views From the 6” is featuring Wizkid and Kyla for “One Dance,” and Jay Z and Kanye West for “Pop Style.”
