Drake Concert Cancelled: Summer Sixteen Tour Refunds, New Tour Dates, Details

Drake has cancelled his concert. The 29-year-old rapper has been forced to cancel the remaining part of his Summer Sixteen Tour on his doctor’s orders.


Drake’s summer 2016 tour is not going as per plans. The rapper suffered a severe ankle injury and was forced to cancel his tour.

“Drake suffered a severe ankle injury during the tour which he did his best to power through. By doing this, he made his injury worse,” a spokesperson for the singer told People.

The spokesperson added just to ensure that his fans can watch him perform, The rapper is following the doctor’s orders to take rest. He postponed the three remaining dates of the North American leg of his Summer Sixteen tour to give enough time for his ankle injury to recuperate.

“Drake’s fans mean the world to him. Seeing their faces and performing his music for them is what he loves to do the most and he can’t wait to get back on stage,” the spokesperson for the musician said.

The news of postponing the dates for his tour, was also announced by Drake himself on his blog on Saturday. He thanked fans for their unconditional support and said: “We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night.”

The cities in which Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour have been cancelled are his native Toronto on Oct. 9, Philadelphia on Oct. 13 and Newark on Oct. 16. It has been reported that the ticket holders will receive refunds.

Meanwhile, he announced the dates for his European tour on Twitter. Known as the Boy Meets World Tour, it will kick off in Amsterdam on January 21, 2017.

The Boy Meets World Tour consists of six shows in London. The tour will end in Germany on March 16. The tour will take Drake to UK, Ireland, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and France, Complex reports. Tickets will go on sale on Ticketmaster from Oct. 14.

Meanwhile, Drake and Rihanna have broken up again, E Online reports. Sources said that the singers still loved each other, but Drake at this moment was going around with India Love.

“Rihanna and Drake are seeing other people at the moment. They are not exclusive anymore. They still love each other, but their schedules have gotten in the way,” said the insider. Rihanna was at her home in Barbados for a christening ceremony.
