Dr Luke Speaks Out: Kesha Rape, Abuse Allegations Fabricated
The legal battle of Kesha, the artist behind Tik Tok, was put to an end last week, as the singer has been trying to get away from her contract with Kemosabe Entertainment, part of Sony Records, for the reason that Kesha’s producer, Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald), sexually assaulted her.Advertisement
Kesha filed a lawsuit in 2014, and the producer quickly fired back by talking through his lawyers, then filed a defamation suit against the singer and her mother, whom Dr. Luke claimed were spreading malicious lies about him on social media and within the music industry. Kesha’s request for that injunction was denied by a New York judge on Friday.
On Monday, February 22, Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald released a new statement through his lawyers commenting on the #FreeKesha, a trending topic on Twitter supported by artists like Lorde, Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato.
Dr. Luke’s camp seems to put up a roadblock against the popular hashtag. The lawyers stated, “On Friday, The New York County Supreme Court found that the artist Kesha is already ‘free’ to record and release her music without collaborating with Dr. Luke as a producer. Any claim from the singer that she isn’t ‘free’ is a myth.”
For Kesha’s accusations regarding rape and abuse, Dr. Luke’s lawyer Christine Lepera denied the charges. As Dr. Luke said repeatedly, the allegations against him are lies to extort a contract renegotiation and money.
The producer’s camp also stated that Kesha never reported any claims of abuse or rape to any law authority against Dr Luke, even to Sony Music. The producer’s side also claims that in the past, Kesha swore under oath that it never occurred.
As stated by the Rolling Stone, Kesha’s lawyers did not immediately respond to Dr. Luke’s statements.
