Donald Trump defended the rape convict in 1992, Mike Tyson, publicly in a radio interview claiming that the boxing champion had been a victim of sexually aggressive women who touched him inappropriately.Advertisement
Mike Tyson had been sent to 6 years of prison after being convicted of committing rape.
However, in 3 years, Tyson was released. He was convicted in 1992, for raping 18 year old, Desiree Washington, who was a beauty pageant at the Miss Black America that year, after she made a visit to his hotel to meet him.
According to Heavy, Donald Trump, who was 46-years-old back then, made a number of media appearances to question the actual occurrence of the rape.
He said that Tyson was “railroaded” and the conviction of the world heavyweight champion as “a travesty”.

In an interview with the NBC News, Trump proposed that the incident with Washington was not rape because she was “dancing with a big smile on her face”.
The Telegraph reports that in an interview on “Howard Stern Show” in 1992, Donald Trump was asked about Tyson’s inappropriate behaviour towards women, to which he gave a laughing response.
Trump brushed the accusations aside and claimed, “I’ve seen women going around touching him. He walks in a room and the women start grabbing him and grabbing his ass and grabbing anything else they can grab on him.”
Tyson’s conviction and his 3 years of prison term were considered by Donald Trump as “very sad”. Mr. Trump said, “The truth is he’s been very loyal to me, he has most of his fights at my places.”
Trump added, “He does best at my places in terms of his best fights and he’s been great and I just hate to see what’s happened to him. It’s a travesty, it’s a travesty.”
The encounter has been maintained by Tyson as consensual. He alleged that Desiree Washington had a historical record for crying of rape.
For his presidential campaign, Mr. Trump earlier this year claimed he got Tyson’s support. At a speech during his visit to Indiana, he said, “Mike Tyson endorsed me. I love it. He sent out a tweet. Mike. Iron Mike. You know, all the tough guys endorse me. I like that, OK?”
Whereas, Tyson endorsed for Trump as President, “Let’s try something new! We tried Obama, right, time for a change. So we got to change. So now let’s try something new,”and added, “Let’s run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job”, in a current campaign.
