For 2016, Marvel Studios would release comic book-based movies “Captain America: Civil War,” “Deadpool,” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.” With a lot of movies in store and millions of fans anticipating them, Marvel Studios also revealed that “Doctor Strange” will join the 2016 release date.
As reported by Cinema Blend, the company also revealed a sneak preview of what Doctor Strange will bring to the table, especially the famous Sanctum Santorum from the comic books. This is the lead character’s lair wherein he places priceless artifacts and where he works under the mystic arts. The place is also hoarded with several spells to keep supernatural enemies away, although it does get overridden in the books.
The location of the Sanctum Santorum would be situated in Greenwich Village, New York, particularly in Bleeker Street. On the outside, the property looks normal, a design the sorcerer specifically used to steer away unwanted attention. However, the insides would be as spacious and magical as it was discussed in the comic books.
Apart from that, the Chamber of Relics was also revealed. It is the place where Doctor Strange keeps his artifacts and other mystical items. There is also Strange’s meditation room, a place where he finds solace during stressful times.
In other news, Coming Soon reports that the script for the movie would be under the influence of Jon Spaihts, the writer for successful movies such as “Prometheus” and “Passengers.” It would also be directed by Scott Derrickson of “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” and “Deliver Us From Evil.” Furthermore, the cast was also revealed: Doctor Strange would be portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor of “12 Years A Slave” to play Baron Mordo, Mads Mikkelsen as the villain, Tilda Swinton of “Only Lovers Left Alive” as The Ancient One, and other talents to portray unconfirmed roles such as Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins, and Amy Landecker.
Doctor Strange will come to theaters this November 4, 2016, the last of Marvel Studios movies to release this year.
