Disney Launches Japanese Game App ‘Tsum Tsum’ Globally
Disney has announced the global launch of its hit game app ‘Tsum Tsum.’ The giant entertainment firm has teamed up with Japan’s messaging app Line to bring the Japanese puzzle game to more Android and iPhone users not just in the US but also in as many as 39 other regions around the world.
‘Line: Disney Tsum Tsum’ is a free game that literally translates to ‘Disney Stack Stack.’ The game app is holding a record in Japan, where it has been enjoying massive patronage. To date, uploads of the game has already exceeded 14 million downloads in Japan. Thus, it is the top free app in the country for both Android and iOS devices.
It should be noted that this is the first time for Disney to introduce to the world a Japanese-focused product. The mobile game has become a phenomenon where it originated. In a statement, The Walt Disney Company Japan said ist is exited to launch globally a Japan-originated franchise.
How to play
The game is targeting both kids and adults. The mechanics is quite simple. Players should simply match and to eliminate cute and cuddly Tsum characters in just a minute. To eliminate those, players have to make sets containing three or more of the Tsums.
The more Tsums are popped in every level, the higher the player’s score gets. As one progresses through this game, he or she can collect special Tsums like Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, and Stitch. These Tsums come with special powers to help players in the game.
Competing with friends online
Adult players may opt to play Tsum Tsum while competing with friends for higher scores on leaderboards. This could be possible only when they connect the mobile game to Line app, which is apparently the most widely used messaging app in the Japan and is also gaining popularity now in other parts of the world.
Along with the mobile app, Disney has also launched over 30 Tsum Tsum soft toys. Those are logically based on different popular Disney characters like Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse. Those toys can be availed at prices that range from $4.95 to $24.95. Meanwhile, Line: Disney Tsum Tsum can be downloaded through Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
