In an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, Danny DeVito, an Oscar nominee himself, bared his opinions about the Oscar race issue. He called everyone racist, himself included.

While discussing the controversy, DeVito said, “It’s unfortunate that the entire country is a racist country.” He added, “Even though some people have given really great performances in movies, they weren’t even thought about. We’re living in a country that discriminates, and has certain racist tendencies.”

While some of the Hollywood celebrities have taken their stands against it by calling for a boycott, others claimed that the complaints miss the point. However, DeVito decided to face the Oscar race issue head on.

In another interview with The Daily Beast, DeVito added, “We do live in a racist country. We need to understand what happened and realize that we’re all human beings who are cut from the same cloth.”

The interview of DeVito clearly shows not only his opinions on the Oscar race issue but also his political interests. One can also catch his wild stories about George Clooney in the interview.

So while it is something for celebrities to make their opinions about the controversies clear, the stand of DeVito in this Oscar race issue is being considered too blunt by many. The video also includes the views of Don Cheadle and Sam Neil. They expressed their disappointments about the lack of minorities in the Oscar nominees this year.
