The highly-anticipated South Korean drama series “Descendants of the Sun” season 2 might just embrace certain changes as it is still unclear if original lead stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo can reprise their roles.
According to The Bitbag, these possible changes might include highlighting the lives of the characters played by Jin goo and Kim Ji Won.
With the busy schedule of the Song-Song love team, the report suggested that the love story of Jin’s Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young and Kim’s Lieutenant Yoon Myung-joo would be focused in “Descendants of the Sun” season 2.
As described The Bitbag, Jin’s role is seen as a “soldier who is very much devoted to protecting his family and serving his country,” while the character of Kim has been known to be always ready to fight for love despite her father’s vocal disagreement against her relationship with Jin’s Seo Dae-young.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo may return but there is a possibility that their love story would no longer be the highlight of the “Descendants of the Sun” sequel.
Back in April, head of KBS’s drama department Jung Sung Ho revealed that the release date of “Descendants of the Sun” season 2 will be in 2017, Soompi reported.
“We want to repay viewers with the next ‘Descendants of the Sun,’” Jung said. “We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors.”
“The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu,” he added. “KBS will strive to produce a second ‘Descendants of the Sun’ to meet expectations and repay viewers. We plan to launch a 2017 ‘Descendants of the Sun’ project for broadcast in 2017 through negotiations with the cast and production team.”
