“Descendants of the Sun 2” may likely be bumped off due to its lead cast Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s conflict in schedules.
According to the Soompi, “Descendants of the Sun” season 2 may be impossible despite fans’ clamor for its comeback.
The conflict of schedule for both main cast has already been witnessed when they were not able to attend the “Descendants of the Sun” OST concert last April.
“Unfortunately, Song Joong Ki is unable to attend this concert,” a repo from the Song Joog Ki said. “Due to prior work commitments, it will be difficult for him to make an appearance.”
Likewise, Song Hye Kyo was not able to go as well due to earlier commitments.
Aside from conflict of schedule, “Descendants of the Sun” co-writer Kim Won Suk, earlier revealed that he is not planning to have a season 2 for the show.
“I have no plans for a second season,” he said in April. “I’ve already told the story I wanted to tell. I hope that Yoo Si Jin will lead a happy life in the future without any more trouble.”
Rumors have it that there will be “Descendants of the Sun” season 2 when head of KBS’s drama department, Jung Sung Ho hinted a possibility for the hit Korean drama.
“We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors,” he said. “The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu.”
He further added that KBS will try to produce “Descendants of the Sun” season next year, right after closing the negotiations on the production and its cast.
However, he clarified that not all people who were involved in the previous season will be included in the “Descendants of the Sun” 2 next year.
