Civil rights activist DeRay Mckesson who became a politics fellow at the University of Chicago took to twitter on Thursday night and posted a photograph of the Young Thug.
The rapper whose real name is Jeffery Williams dropped his new album “No, My Name is Jeffery” on Thursday night. The cover of the album features a photograph of him in a dress.
The 25-year-old is a frequent collaborator of Kanye West and Chance the Rapper. The picture shows him in a white top, a pale blue tiered skirt with suspenders. The person wears a parasol-like hat that hides his face. A few tendrils of his dark locks can be seen from under the hat.
He wears a three-fourth sleeve top that has blue fabric tied all over, and its matches his full-length skirt. He accessorizes with two chunky bracelets as he strikes a MJ’esque pose.
His Japanese-inspired outfit is by Italian designer Alessandro Trincone who will showcase his collection at the New York Fashion Week in September, WWD reports. Young Thug is currently one of the seven participants on the panel of the VFiles in its spring 2017 fashion show.
Young Thug’s dress has been likened to the yellow ruffled and billowy dress by Roberto Cavalli that Beyonce wore in “Lemonade.” The noted Black Lives Matter activist and former Baltimore mayoral candidate simply captioned the picture as: “Young Thug” followed by a hands joined in prayers emoji.
The 31-year-old activist, who is known for his signature vest, sent out a very powerful message through the campaign. The rapper was trending on twitter with the Young Thug catch line.
DeRay hinted at his gender neutral fashion sense in the outfit. The educator who loves twitter and considers the social media platform to be a great friend, showed off his bold sense of style through the picture, Uproxx reports.
The gender neutral style is not something that is new, though very few celebs are courageous enough to carry it off with élan. The picture and the style is quite akin to celebs like Jaden Smith, Jared Leto, Diddy and Kanye West.
Leto known for his bold fashion choices, has often teamed up his outfit with a skirt to add a cool and relaxed look. Who can forget the quirky emerald green suit paired with baby pink trousers that Leto wore for Suicide Squad London premiere in early August. The look resembled a look from Will Ferrell’s Elf, Daily Mail reports.
Besides, high-end fashion brands like Givenchy have come out with complete ranges of clothes for guys who think they can rock a skirt.
