After 6 years of blissful togetherness, Demi Lovato and her beau Wilmer Valderrama have decided to call it quits. What could be the real reason behind the sudden split?
Could the real reason behind the split be the age-difference between the two? Did Valderrama think Demi was too immature for her?
Demi was heard saying in an interview With Entertainment Tonight that “He had some hesitations. Once I got older, we could be together”. And when she was asked if she plans to get engaged soon, she simply replied “You’ll have to ask him.”
Even though both of the musicians have vowed to stay friends, indicating that the split might have been a mutual one, all signs point to age-difference being the main culprit.
Demi Lovato Break Up
The couple was very much in love and no news of any trouble in their relationship has surfaced before now. Hence, it came as a big shock to all the fans of the famous singer when she and her partner took to Twitter to announce that they had broken up.
No definite reasons were cited in their formal, almost press release-like statements on the social media, reports E! News. In the joint statement they wrote:
“After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.”
Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama Split
Demi had always gushed about the man in her life, who had stuck through thick and thin, in every interview that she had given in the past. “He’s very manly, and he can be stubborn like Latino men can, but he’s protective and he cares so much and loves so hard. I’ve been blessed enough to have him in my life, and not just as my man, but also my best friend”, she was heard telling Latina Magazine.
Valderrama also echoes similar sentiments whenever he spoke about Demi, back when they were still in a relationship. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said “You know, we’ve been best friends for about six years. We haven’t necessarily been dating for six years, but we have six years of friendship, and it’s been beautiful.”
However, mysteriously enough, every time Demi was asked about when she would be tying the knot with her long-term boyfriend, she had shied away from the question. “I am very, very in love with him. I think—we will probably wait a little bit longer, but—if he asked tomorrow I would say yes”, she said on a New Zealand radio station.
