Del Monte Decides To Recall ‘Fresco Fresh’ Yogurt Cups Due To Undeclared Allergen

Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. has issued a voluntary recall involving several flavors of its “Fresco Fresh” brand parfait yogurt cups as the said products may contain a possible allergen not declared in the product label, particularly almonds. Nonetheless, the company says that so far, there have been no cases of illnesses or allergic reactions reported in connection with the recalled yogurt products to date.


The issue was said to have been discovered during a routine retained sample inspection. the granola component of the said parfait yogurt cups contains almonds. However, the required allergen statement was found to be absent from product labels. With regard to the recall three Fresco Fresh parfait yogurt fruit cup flavors are affected. These are the strawberry yogurt with fresh bananas, vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberry/strawberry blend and vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries. All flavors are packaged in 6.5 oz. cups. Moreover, the affected products have “Best if Enjoyed By” dates between October 11 to 20. Furthermore, they have varying UPC codes and lot numbers, which can be seen here.

The affected products were said to have been distributed between October 3 to 12 to a limited number of customers in Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Customers who have already purchased the affected yogurt products are asked to immediately dispose of them. Meanwhile, affected retailers have already been asked to remove the affected products off their store shelves.
