Fans of the zombie survival game genre now have another promising title to look forward to. Days Gone is a post-apocalyptic open-world adventure game that’s highly-reminiscent of The Last of Us.
Sony showed snippets of Days Gone at E3 2016, and zombie aficionados have been talking about it ever since. Before you tell your friends, here are a few initial details that may come in handy:
‘Days Gone’ The Story
Days Gone is set two years after a deadly virus turned the world into a dystopian wasteland. Players take on the role of motorcycle rider and ex-bounty hunter Deacon St. John. The Bitbag likened Deacon to Joel from The Last of Us. Both are survivors who had their fair share of painful losses.
“A lot of us are motorcycle riders. It’s a really vibrant culture. It’s often associated with criminals, mayhem, and violence, but it’s also about brotherhood and family,” game director Ron Allen told PlayStation Blog. “Because Deacon has suffered so much loss he holds on to that aspect of his past, and cherishes those relationships. It’s about him finding himself, because he no longer has his motorcycle gang.”
‘Days Gone’ Gameplay
The objective of the game is pretty basic: avoid the horde at all cost, long enough to make it through the next cutscene. Needless to say, there is also shooting involved as well as a ton of crafting and stealth.
In Days Gone, zombies are called Freakers. There are two types of them, the Newts and the Hordes. Each zombie-type has its own set of skills and characteristics that players should be aware of in order to stay alive.
Deacon is a master craftsman. He will need that skill all throughout the game. Attack Of The Fanboy noted that Deacon can create makeshift weapons out of things he finds in the field. He can also use the items to improve firearm efficiency and accuracy.
‘Days Gone’ Release Date
What is known for now is that “Days Gone” will be a PS4-exclusive upon its release. There’s still no word if it will be a timed-exclusive or if it will ultimately be made available for Xbox One or PC. SIE Bend Studio did mention at E3 2016 that it’ll be releasing more details about the game in the coming months. Let’s just keep or fingers crossed and hope for the best.
