Naya Rivera is still not over the death of her BFF Cory Monteith. It was in 2013 that Rivera’s close friend Monteith died of heroin overdose. At that time, he was only 31.
However, three years down the line, still “Glee” star Naya Rivera is as much shocked over Cory’s death as she was in 2013, Radar Online reports.
The 29-year-old actress has released her new memoir “Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up.” Naya is regretful of the fact that she and the rest of the cast mates of “Glee’ could not help Cory Monteith even when he has been open about his addiction.
Naya learnt about Cory’s death when she was with her ex-boyfriend Big Sean in London. She said for her to film the Cory Monteith tribute episode was “one of the hardest moments of her life,” according to Hollywood Life.
But, Naya Rivera appeared to be disgusted with the “Glee” Cory Monteith tribute episode. The episode happened hurriedly and she was reportedly not happy.
“We barely got a moment to breathe at all. Everything just happened so fast— after one take several of us were bawling and trying to pull ourselves together when someone popped their head in the room and said, ‘At least you guys are acting, right? It’s not like its real life. Great job!’” she said.
Naya Rivera still feels that Cory’s death was totally unnecessary. He had so much to live for, the actress writes in her book.
She added that she is not the only person who has regrets about Cory’s death. Naya said that her former cast mates from “Glee” talked and wondered if they had given some time to him or confronted him, things would have been different.
In fact Naya Rivera is sad that she was always in a hurry to get back home after filming “Glee.” Had she given time to Cory or spoken with him about his addiction problems, then he would not have died.
