After the success of James Wan’s The Conjuring, which made more than $319 million in 2013, a sequel is coming to theaters around the world on June 10.
But for starters, Wan’s The Conjuring is based on and inspired by real events – cases handled by famed demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. The first Conjuring centered on the haunting case of the Perron family, which was the inspiration of another high-grossing horror film, Annabelle.
Now, moving forward to the upcoming sequel of the second highest-grossing original horror film, the follow-up is based on the Enfield Poltergeist case back in 1977. The Conjuring 2 follows the story of Peggy Hodgson, a single mother living with her four children in London.
According to an article from Movie Pilot, it wasn’t Peggy who was haunted by the malicious. It was her 11-year-old daughter Janet.
Janet, who is now an adult residing in Essex, shared that she experienced levitation, strange voices, and other phenomena.
“The levitation was scary, because you didn’t know where you were going to land. I remember a curtain being wound around my neck, I was screaming, I thought I was going to die. My mum had to use all her strength to rip it away. The man who spoke through me, Bill, seemed angry, because we were in his house,” Janet shared as written by Movie Pilot.
Although thousands of moviegoers enjoy watching horror films, many are still skeptical whether they’re actually true. But despite the advancement of science and technology, there are still things beyond the comprehension of science.
