A 14-year-old school boy in Colorado was charged for stabbing a girl, also aged 14, at a Denver-area elementary school last week. He was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and possession of a weapon in school premises. The name of the suspect is kept hidden.

The girl was airlifted to a hospital, and she reportedly survived the attack. The incident took place last Thursday at the Aspen Creek Elementary School in Broomfield, authorities informed.

The District Attorney’s Office for Adams and Broomfield Counties said in a statement that the teen was charged as a violent juvenile offender who used a deadly weapon.

Investigation is underway, and it is not yet divulged what triggered the attack. Several students and staff members watched when the girl was reportedly stabbed in the back by the boy near a playground at Aspen Creek K-8 School in Broomfield. Classes continued after the attack.
