Colin Kaepernick is currently facing serious backlash after his controversial decision to not salute the flag during the national anthem. However, this could just be the beginning, as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback was recorded saying that Hillary Clinton should go to jail.
In a video, Kaepernick questioned how someone who deleted confidential emails and did things illegally could still run for president. It just doesn’t make sense to him he added.
According to Terez Owens, he ended the short video by saying that he thinks she should go to prison. The 49ers quarterback later clarified that he dislikes both presidential candidates.
Colin Kaepernick and his actions during the playing of the national anthem have garnered mixed reactions. Some fans took it as an insult to the country, which even prompted some to burn their Kaepernick jerseys.
Others took his refusal to salute the flag as a legitimate protest to bring attention to the racial violence plaguing the country. One such example is singer John Legend.
Colin Kaepernick Is Righter Than We Know?
According to Fox News, Legend is standing with the 49ers quarterback and his decision not to stand during the national anthem. He also called the “Star Spangled Banner” weak and containing racist lyrics.
John Legend took to Twitter to voice his views saying “For those defending the current anthem, do you really truly love that song? I don’t and I’m very good at singing it. Like, one of the best.”
He also tweeted that his choice for the national anthem should be “America the Beautiful.” The current national anthem is weak he says, while linking to an article titled “Colin Kaepernick Is Righter Than You Know: The National Anthem Is a Celebration of Slavery.”
While Legend is entitled to his opinion, there’s no doubt that his statements will cause quite an uproar. This is especially true for patriotic Americans. For the time being all eyes are on Colin Kaepernick when his team faces the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night.
