The Clippers thrived in the free throw contest in the final seconds. Blake Griffin, who else could have led the Clippers in such a crunch game. Griffin scored 24 points and 12 rebounds. J.J. Redick scored 6 crucial points in the final minute. Redick returned with 16 points. Chris Paul, who sat out on Saturday’s game with a strained groin, also played his part by scoring 14 points and 4 assists in 32 minutes.
Memphis were led by their big-leftie Zach Randolph, who posted match-high 26 points on 12-of-19 shooting and nine rebounds. His front-court partner, Spaniard Marc Gasol returned with 18 points and seven rebounds. Gasol, though, was guilty of missing three free throws in the final seconds. Mike Conley added 16 points and six rebounds. Barnes, who dropped three critical free throws with 8 seconds remaining to reduce the margin to 90-89, notched up 8 points.
Clippers held advantage from the free throw line, dropping 33 out of 37 attempts. Memphis on the other hand, netted 20 of their 29 free throws.
The Clippers now have 5-2 win record. Blake Griffin and company will now be traveling to play a couple of away games at Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.
