LeBron James is taking his talents to the West Coast, but only for the month of September. The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar has chosen Los Angeles to be the venue of his annual pre-training camp workouts.

It has become a habit of LeBron to host informal workouts before the start of training camp. In 2014, he and his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates trained at his hometown neighborhood of Bath Township, Ohio. Last year, LeBron hosted group workouts in Miami.

Joe Vardon of is not too surprised about LeBron’s decision to host this year’s workouts in LA. The three-time NBA champion has been spending most of his offseason at his new Brentwood mansion in Southern California.

Aside from LeBron and his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates, head coach Tyronn Lue and his support staff will also be attending the workouts. The team’s official training camp starts on September 27.

CBS Sports noted that two years ago, the gathering was all about changing the culture in Cleveland. Now that the team has won its first-ever NBA champion, the next challenge for LeBron and company is to work on how to defend it.

Rebounding savant Tristan Thompson did not join the team in their pre-training camp workouts last year since he was still a free agent waiting to be offered a contract. Shooting guard JR Smith is in a similar situation this offseason. Only time will tell if he will be flying to Los Angeles when September rolls around.

As for LeBron, his newly-minted contracted with the Cavaliers includes a rare stipulation. LeBron recently signed a three-year, $100 million deal with a no-trade clause. He now shares a similar distinction with NBA stalwarts such as Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki, Fox Sports reported.
