‘Clash Royale’ July 2016 Update Brings Tournament Mode, More Balancing Tweaks and More
Attention all Clashers! Clash Royale July 2016 update will be bringing a brand new Tournament mode next week. The competitive multiplayer mode will be part of the game’s upcoming July 4 systems update.Advertisement
To the uninitiated, Clash Royale is a freemium strategy game on both Android and iOS. The game is set in the same universe as Supercell’s smash-hit Clash of Clans. But unlike the base-building game, Clash Royale is a card-based battle game in which competitors try to demolish opposing towers while doing their best to protect their own bases.
When Clash Royale released in March 2016, Supercell promised that it will be rolling out big gameplay updates per month. This is to ensure that the game will maintain its balance and that all players will have an equal shot of winning.
Supercell surprised everyone last week when it announced that the Clash Royale July 2016 update will include something extra special. Now, the Helsinki-based developer has revealed what that added content will be.
According to the official Clash Royale blogsite, the new Tournament mode will be unlocked once players completely download the update. Players would need Gems to join each tournament and not all tournaments are worth the same. In Part 2 of its blog post, Supercell said “the bigger the tournament, the better the prizes!”
Players can also leave one tournament and join a new one. However, progress will be lost from unfinished matches. Additionally, players who open Tournament Chests are disallowed from joining a new tournament. Short pauses between tournaments are necessary to avoid system fatigue.
Supercell mentioned that the launch version of Tournament mode won’t be its final form. Developers have more features up their sleeves but it will likely be added in subsequent updates. Besides Tournament mode, the July 2016 update will add a plethora of gameplay tweaks.
Gotta Be Mobile reported that hitpoints from Tombstone and Bomb Tower will be increased to 9 and 6 percent, respectively. Skeleton armies will be bigger, Dark Knight stronger and Elixir Collector will now be affected by spells, freeze and Ice Wizard.
