Filled with enthusiasm, TV host and model Chrissy Teigen sat down with People Magazine in an exclusive interview where she shares some of the hottest updates about her career, and of course, her personal life. Little did she know that a portion of her interview would draw the ire of the online world.
The 30-year-old soon-to-be mother and wife of music icon John Legend shared with People Magazine that they (couple) personally chose the girl embryo over a boy’s. But this does not sit well with some people. Hours after her interview went online, some people tweeted and posted mean things about the model, particularly about her choice.
Teigen, who appeared to have lost her cool in a report from the CBS News, tweeted back to one of the tweets saying it’s not that they are ‘making’ a girl baby and not a boy. But hours after, when Teigen sounds more calm, tweeted that how she wished she could offer a very simplistic explanation of a rather complex process.
Teigen was referring to in vitro fertilization or IVF, a medical procedure, which has been widely used worldwide by couples that is primarily aimed at assisting the conception of a child. As explained by the American Pregnancy Association (APA), the IVF is one of the commonly used assisted pregnancy technology (APT) being used worldwide. In a nutshell, the process works by combining the father’s sperm cell and the mother’s egg cell in a petri dish or laboratory dish to facilitate fertilization, the APA explained.
“It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond. A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa — it’s crazy!” Teigen, who expects a baby girl this fall, was quoted as saying by the People Magazine.
