Taj Gibson is someone who has often been mentioned in potential NBA trade rumors and the trend is expected to continue. In fact, it may not be surprising if he does end up reuniting with former head coach Tom Thibodeau who is now with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
For those who have been following the grapevine, a Taj Gibson to T-Wolves can happen. But to do that, Minnesota may have to give up some of their assets except for Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Kris Dunn.
But why would the T-Wolves enlist a 31-year-old who has been constantly in sick bay? The answer is because he is a veteran and still effective.

Taj Gibson Thrived under ‘Thibs’
When Thibodeau was still around, there is no question that Gibson made an impact. All that changed under Fred Hoiberg’s system who has opted for a run-and-gun style. The Bulls have other forwards to fit that niche, particularly Doug McDermott and/or Bobby Portis.
With two up and rising stars, where does Gibson fit into the mix? The obvious reason he is still around is because of his veteran smarts. But there is no telling what Hoiberg will do for the 2016-17 NBA wars.
Taj Gibson career far from over
Gibson can still be an asset if given the chance. He has proven that with the meager time he has been getting. Unfortunately, the Bulls seem headed in a different direction and he is looming as the odd man out.
If that is indeed the case, the only thing left is who the Bulls could get in exchange for Gibson. The T-Wolves are on but so are other teams looking for a proven veteran player. Given the chance, Gibson could even turn out to be a leader to young stalwarts.
Old Bulls’ vets have been dealt and Gibson is one of the few remaining remnants from Tom Thibodeau’s tenure. Will he be finally dealt this season to complete the Chicago Bulls overhaul?
