Abe Vigoda, whose acting skills were recognized when he starred alongside Al Pacino in “The Godfather,” passed away this Tuesday at the age of 94. The actor peacefully died in his sleep at his home at Woodland Park, New Jersey. The cause of his death was said to be old age. Celebrity deaths this month have definitely taken a toll in the entertainment industry.

According to Fox News, Vigoda’s daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, found her father unconscious last Tuesday morning at his home. In fact, she revealed that her father never experienced any illness and was never sick throughout his life.

The actor was first cast for Mario Puzo’s “The Godfather” in 1972. The film won an Oscar and subsequently, “Godfather Part II” came to be. Vigoda also starred in the second installment of the franchise.

After his skills were recognized in the movies, Vigoda landed a role as a detective in “Fish,” wherein his acting talents were first doubted when he looked tired after a jog. Series producer, Danny Arnold, asked him, “You know, you look like you might have hemorrhoids.” The actor responded, “What are you – a doctor or a producer?”

After his discussion with Arnold, he landed the role. Tough one, that man is.

Vigoda did have several projects after “The Godfather” franchise but it was his role as Barney Miller that made him an icon in the entertainment industry.

For 30 long years, Vigoda acted in theater, participated in several plays such as “Richard II” and “Tough to Get Help.” The best part about the actor, though, is that he wrote his own lines when he was due for auditions in several projects.

Abe Vigoda was previously reported to be dead. Although these reports were all hoaxes, along with several other celebrity deaths that were proven to be false, this time, the legendary actor finally said his goodbyes to the world of entertainment. Rest in peace, Abe Vigoda.
