What's This?

Kenneth Faried is reportedly on the trading block. Several teams have expressed interest in the 6-foot-8 power forward, with the Cleveland Cavaliers emerging as one of the top suitors

Dubbed as the Manimal, Faried has made a name for himself with his tenacity on the boards. He is a high-energy player who gives his squad extra possessions and more second chance points with his rebounding prowess.

Faried averaged 12.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and almost one block per game last season. That said,  his importance goes beyond what is written on the stat sheet.

His cat-quick reflexes and raw athleticism have helped the Denver Nuggets in more ways than one. Psychologically, opponents think twice before attempting to put a shot up against Faried. When they do, they are more concerned about putting the shot up than actually making it. Also, what he lacks in height, he makes up for in grit and effort.

More Cavs Rumors: Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers Reuniting With LeBron James?

King James Gospel reported that the uncertainty of Kevin Love has pushed the Cavaliers into the Kenneth Faried sweepstakes. From a tactical standpoint, Love has struggled to fit in a lineup featuring LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

Love was an inside-outside scorer as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. In Cleveland, he was reduced to being a spot up shooter who occasionally sets screens. Faried might just be a more useful option for the reigning, defending NBA champions.

If the Cavaliers do trade for Faried, they would have to live with his offensive limitations. The Manimal only made 2 out of 13 shots from beyond the arc in his entire NBA career, per Basketball Reference.

His field goal percentage is decent, but that’s because he makes most of his shots from dunks, lobs and tip ins. Taylor Hunt of Nugg Love stated that Faried and Tristan Thompson would make a good front court tandem.

They would make the Cavaliers offense more athletic and up-tempo. Needless to say, both players will have little to no jump shots between them. But then again, who needs to shoot when you have LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on your squad.

The Cavaliers can trade for Faried if they move Love, Iman Shumpert and Mo Williams. The Nuggets will likely add Will Barton to further sweeten the deal. ESPN’s Trade Machine deems the five-player swap a fair trade-off.
