As the ABC show is finally airing its penultimate episode on Monday night, varied spoilers have been claiming that the death of certain characters is inevitable, especially that executive producer Alexi Hawley already hinted that killing off some roles has always been a plot in every episode.
“There is death in every episode of ‘Castle,’” Hawley told Entertainment Weekly.
While he appeared giving out specific details of the series’ final episode, he refused to confirm if fans would witness the death of the novelist and NYPD homicide detective.
“We don’t want to get into that too much,” he stressed. “There’s definitely danger.”
The showrunner further dished during the interview, which happened earlier this month, that “Their lives are in jeopardy pretty much from [the] jump.” Therefore, fans are expected to experience a heart-pumping finale for the “Castle” series.
“What we wanted to do was keep pulling the rug out from under them,” Hawley added. “Things get dangerous very fast. Ultimately, it’s a back-and-forth between being the hunted and being the hunters all the way through the finale.”
Meanwhile, amid the exit of Katic and Tamala Jones, fans were left wondering on how the show would go on for its season 9. However, this thought was finally answered.
On Thursday, People learned that “Castle” series’ episode on May 16 will not just be the finale performance of Katic on the show as it will also be the last for the entire cast and production.
According to the entertainment site, the confirmation came a month after Katic’s announcement of her exit from the American crime-dramedy TV series, in which she was a part of for the past eight seasons.
Fillion, while airing his sentiments over Katic’s exit in April, sounded to have a little hint that their show was already on the verge of saying goodbye then.
“’Castle’ has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come,” he tweeted.
