A mother and her four-year-old daughter were gunned down in Long Beach on Saturday. They were right outside their home when they were killed.
Carina Mancera, 26, and her four-year-old toddler Jennabel Anaya reportedly arrived home with the child’s father when the shooting happened. The mother and child had been walking to their residence when they were fatally shot on Saturday. Their family resides in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene in the area of 9th Street and Locust Avenue at around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they found a woman and a young girl killed by gunfire.
Carina was pronounced dead on the scene. Meanwhile, Jennabel was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead the following morning. The motive for shooting Carina and her child remains unclear.
Following the tragedy, the brother of Carina’s husband has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the funeral expenses of both Jenna and Carina. On the page, he wrote, “Our family is heartbroken with this tragic event, and we hope that you can help us give these two beautiful souls a graceful resting place.”
The Long Beach Police Department have said they have no available suspect information at this time. The incident remains under investigation. Detectives are encouraging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information to come forward.
