Captain America Civil War: New Artwork Of Baron Zemo, Marvel Comics Style
In Captain America Civil War, the Russo Brothers had decided to remove certain qualities that pushed the cinematic universe away from the comic realm. Most importantly, the suits designed for the superheroes in the movie were different but still managed to appeal to the audience.Advertisement
The costume worn by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff was one of the most discussed as her clothing went through a transformation after her first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, fans were more surprised when they got their first look at Daniel Bruhl’s Baron Zemo in Captain America Civil War.
In Marvel Comics, Baron Zemo is known for wearing his iconic red mask. The villain conceals his face as he experienced facial trauma. However in Captain America Civil War, the character was revealed in a civilian identity with normal facial structure.
Recently, Marvel Studio’s concept artist Andy Park revealed a new artwork of Baron Zemo. The artist shared the image on Twitter as he wrote that he “painted this Baron Zemo for Captain America Civil War”. However, it seemed that the “end of the day his traditional comic book look didn’t make sense for the story.”
In the movie, Baron Zemo’s civilian look is important to the plot as the villain breaks in to the highly secured prison to activate Bucky as the Winter Solider. The role required him to concealing himself as government psychiatrist.
While it’s disappointing that Baron Zemo couldn’t wear his iconic villain clothing, the character still exist alive and well in MCU. This opens up the possibility for Baron Zemo to appear again in the future and likely wear his red costume as well.
In Captain America: Civil War, Baron Zemo was caught by Black Panther in the end. So, it could be possible for the villain to appear in his standalone movie or Avengers: Infinity War.
