What's This?

It’s every artist’s dream to own/play a synthesizer. But, the futuristic music machine will cost you as much as your college tuition fee. Luckily, Moog’s soft spot for the fans has led the company to release a new mobile app, which allows the users to play the classic instrument.

The synth app a.k.a Moog Model 15 Modular synthesizer, released in 1973 is now available for download exclusively for iOS (iPad, iPhone and iPod touch)  currently running in 9.3.1 version or later. The reviews currently available on the App store suggests it to be a success. A video uploaded on YouTube by Moog Music Inc channel shows us the fluidity of the app and why it’s a must-buy for all synth lovers. Check out the video below.

The app seemingly looks remarkable in how interactive the digital keyboard is in encouraging users to create their music. The app allows us to drag cables around the board, turn knobs and play simultaneously on the keyboard. The app says that “In order to develop the most immersive and expressive modular interface possible, the Model 15 App has been designed utilizing Apple’s new Metal advance graphics engine.”

This also hints that Moog may not have plans to release an android version app as the synth’s virtual perfection was thanks to the metal API in Apple devices. However, it is still too soon to predict. The App also includes several bonus features which include MIDI integration, MIDI controller and a master ping-pong module. Although the app cannot be as good as the actual synthesizer, its first step in releasing virtual software that comes close to Moog Model 15 is a victory for all of us.
