You Can Now Get An Uber Using Facebook Messenger

You got that right. The next time you need an Uber, you no longer need to exit your Facebook Messenger.

You got that right. The next time you need an Uber, you no longer need to exit your Facebook Messenger. That’s because you can request for a car service from the popular ride sharing company even while you are still engaged on your Facebook chat.

The reason why this is possible is because Uber says that Facebook Messenger is powered by the ride sharing company’s API. And now, even while you are still chatting with your friend, you can now request for an Uber just by tapping on a car icon (next to the smiley icon) that you can now find on your Messenger. Meanwhile, you can also choose to tap the more menu icon in the Messenger conversation and select “Transportation.” You will also be able to call for a car this way. Moreover, your current chat buddy or chat group will also be notified the moment you have already requested for an Uber so it’s easier to organize things if you’re planning to meet up.

The best part is that your first ride with Uber via Facebook Messenger is free. This free ride has a value of up to $20. If you already have an account with Uber, just connect your existing account in Messenger to get started. Meanwhile, those who don’t have an existing account can register a new account within Messenger.

Facebook says that its new Uber service is available now in various location in the U.S. where Uber operates. Meanwhile, they are looking to make this feature available to Facebook users in other countries and with more transportation partners soon.
