Brock Turner’s sentencing has been regarded by many as lenient.

A group of witches have, as a result, decided to deal with the matter themselves.

Former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner was convicted for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman and was thereby sentenced to six months in prison and three years of probation. However, many have expressed that the sentencing is too mild.

A mass hexing of Turner has been organized on Tuesday by midwife Melanie Hexen who also identifies as a traditional hereditary witch. The event was posted on Facebook and Hexen invited 12 of her friends to join her. She wanted to perform the hex and put it out on social media.

However, in no time the event had amassed as many as 1,000 people.

“I think it really struck a chord with a lot of women as a way to feel like they had some power in this situation,” Hexen said, as reported by U.S. News and World Report. “That there was something they could do, some way they could come together and focus their rage and their need for justice that wasn’t being met.”

As reported by NBC4i, some of the people who will be attending the hexing hope the event could regularly be used against criminals like rapists. A sample of a hex, detailed with the requirements and what needed to be said, was posted by Hexen on Facebook.

“Brock Allen Turner we hex you,” the sample says. “You will be impotent. You will know constant pain of pine needles in your guts. Food will bring you no sustenance. In water, your lungs will fail you. Sleep will only bring nightmares. Shame will be your mantle. You will meet justice.”
