Brad Pitt is under investigation by the FBI for child abuse allegations. After Angelina Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from her husband, child abuse charges have been made against the 52-year-old actor.
The FBI confirmed that they are investigating the case on Thursday. “The FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued,” said the investigative agency in a statement to People.
It is speculated that if proven guilty of charges, Brad Pitt may end up in jail. Pitt allegedly got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with one of his and Jolie’s six children.
The couple along with their six children were flying from France back to their Los Angeles home in a private jet on September 14, a source said. It was confirmed on Thursday that the allegations had been referred to the FBI under special aircraft jurisdiction. This is because the incident took place mid-flight.
The insider said that Pitt and Jolie had a parent-child fight, which blew out of proportion. However, the source added that at any point in time, Pitt did not physically abuse his children, saying that he is empathetic.
But the The Los Angeles Police Department is not investigating reports or allegations of child abuse against Pitt, a spokesperson said earlier. The actor has been cooperating fully with the DCFS investigation. Furthermore, he was already interviewed, the insider added.
An insider close to Pitt said that the actor raised his hands on one of his kids because the confrontation was getting out of control. The source added that beyond all accusations are “a combination of exaggerations and lies,” People reports.
Blaming the Jolie camp, the source claimed that they were taking the situation to their advantage by blowing an argument out of proportion to gain custody of the kids. Angelina Jolie filed for a divorce from Brad Pitt due to his alleged drinking and smoking. They have been together for twelve years.
