To date, the manner of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death remains “undetermined.”

“Death was clearly not due to natural causes,” according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner report. It added, however, that “the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes.”

The report attributes this difficulty to the long gap between the time Brown was found unconscious in her bathtub and the time of her death. As a result, it has to rely on investigative reports, toxicology test results and other autopsy findings.

However, the report also found that Brown died from lobar pneumonia due to “mixed drug intoxication” and drowning as a result of the same. The drugs included marijuana, morphine, ethanol alcohol, benzoylecgonine (a substance related to cocaine) and benzodiazepines (drugs used to treat anxiety).

Previously, authorities wanted to keep the details of the investigation confidential. Perez Hilton suggested that the reason for this is that the suspect was none other than Brown’s ex-boyfriend Nick Gordon.

According to USA Today, Brown’s conservator filed a lawsuit against Gordon and alleged that the latter injected a “toxic mixture” into Brown before putting her in the bathtub. Gordon was also accused of battery, assault, “intentional infliction of emotional distress,” and unauthorized transfer of money from Brown’s account to his.

Brown’s death was disturbingly similar to that of her mother Whitney Houston, who was also found face-down in the bathtub in 2012. The autopsy revealed the cause as “atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”

CNN describes Bobbi Kristina Brown’s relationship with Houston as “incredibly close,” noting how fans were especially concerned when the then-18-year-old was rushed to the hospital after her mother’s death. After her recovery, she reflected about how her mother would always ask her “Do you need me?” to which she responded, “I always need you.”
