Blue Bell Back In Business, Ice Cream Trucks Spotted!
Since earlier this month when Blue Bell had taken to Twitter to say they had started churning ice cream in their plant in Sylacauga, many of its ice cream fans have been anxiously waiting to find out if the Texas-based company will be making their products available again soon. Now, the long wait may be over as Blue Bell has just tweeted and posted on Facebook that their trucks are back on the road.
They even uploaded a video on Vimeo to prove it. And in case you’re wondering, Blue Bell confirms that they are, indeed, filled with ice cream.
Listeria Outbreak Led To Complete Recall & Plant Shutdown
It seems Blue Bell is back in business months following a listeria outbreak in its production facilities. Back in April, the well-loved ice cream company announced that it was voluntarily recalling all of its products, including ice cream, sherbet, frozen yogurt and frozen snacks following the discovery that they may be contaminated with the deadly listeria monocytogenes organism.
Initially, the said organism was discovered during an enhanced sampling program where half gallons of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream made between March 17, 2015 and March 27, 2015 tested positive for listeria. This indicated to Blue Bell that several of its plants were affected. Blue Bell then, decided to shut down its plants and lay off some of its workers.
Five people in Kansas and three in Texas had fallen ill upon the discovery of the contamination. Moreover, the Wall Street Journal reports that up to 10 cases of listeria illness were found, including three deaths in Kansas.
Back then, Blue Bell Chief Executive Officer and President Paul Kruse has said that all of the company’s products shall not be making a return to the market until the they are sure that they are safe. Now, Blue Bell is expected to announce how soon their products will be back in stores.
