Blake Shelton released his new single “Came Here to Forget” on March 7. The song is reportedly dedicated to his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. And if the words around town are anything to go by, the lover may soon be releasing a duet.Advertisement
“Came Here to Forget” is Shelton’s new project after 18 months and as noted by Hollywood Life it is the most emotional song ever, from the singer. The song was written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan.
During the song’s official release, Shelton described the roller coaster ride he had in the past year and how it helped him in internalizing. “I’ve had a lot of music over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life. That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song,” he said.
Fans of the new song cannot help but notice that it seemed to be talking about Shelton and Stefani’s respective divorces and how they both moved on. “You’re getting over him, and I’m getting over her, ain’t gotta say a word,” the lyrics go. One can feel the tough time they went through. Their love is obviously instilled and very much prominent in the lyrics: “That’s why it’s you and me, buying each other drinks back at the bar as thick as thieves. Doing our best to make the best of the worst of it.”
Shelton and Stefani got to know each other through The Voice. Their love bloomed during the show up until the point that they don’t want to hide it anymore. Stefani also released a single some time back, “Make Me Like You” and fans can imply that the song is for Shelton.
US Magazine reported that Stefani and Shelton are also expected to release a duet. The song will also be part of Blake’s new album which is about to release in the spring. Stefani is also on the verge of releasing her third studio album on 18th March.
The loved-up singers are keeping the music industry busy with their songs, mostly for each other. We hope to hear them together quite soon as they continue to shower each other with their love.
