‘Black Widow’ Movie Ready; Marvel Writers Reveal Details!

After the release of “Captain America: Civil War,” reports are emerging that a Black Widow movie is now being considered.

Marvel Studious hinted that Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, may be ready for a standalone movie but not until the Phase 3 films are complete.

Speaking to The Wrap, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely claimed that Black Widow has undergone great changes since she was introduced in “Iron Man 2.”  Johansson’s character is more than ready to have a movie of her own.

“That character’s journey, over her various appearances, is one coming out of the shadows and into the light. We met her as Natalie Rushman, a spy in Tony Stark’s camp, then she joins SHIELD and at the end of [Captain America: The Winter Solider] leaks all these secrets. She’s out as a good guy, and this is what it means to take on the responsibility of leadership,” the writers surmised.

Screen Rant noted that a Black Widow movie can generate good box office outcome as well. The possibility is high, but the focus now is to finish other Marvel movies.

“Yes, for sure, I think [Black] Widow at some point would be great,” Kevin Feige said via Fandango. “But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away…sometimes we do that. Doctor Strange has been talked about for ten years. But we’re focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019.”

According to a poll conducted by Fandango to people who already purchased tickets for Captain America: Civil War, Black Widow topped the list of the characters they wanted to see in a solo movie.

About 48 percent went to Black Widow, followed by Paul Bettany’s Vision with 15 percent. The list also included Falcon with 12 percent, Hawkeye with 10 percents, War Machine with 8 percent and Scarlet Witch with 7 percent.

Meanwhile, Captain America: Civil War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely acknowledge Black Widow’s evolution from starting in “Iron Man 2” up to the latest Marvel Studios’ offering.

“That character’s journey, over her various appearances, is one coming out of the shadows and into the light. We met her as Natalie Rushman, a spy in Tony Stark’s camp, then she joins SHIELD and at the end of [Captain America: The Winter Solider] leaks all these secrets. She’s out as a good guy, and this is what it means to take on the responsibility of leadership.”
