What's This?

Less than a week before black college football player Christian Taylor was killed by police, he revealed a part of himself that could be understood as his fear when he tweeted “I don’t wanna die too young.” News confirmed that Taylor, 19, was using the username @he_got_sneaks.

The young player at Angelo State University in Texas also used Twitter in expressing doubts about black’s safety at the hands of law enforcers. On August 12, 2014, he tweeted “I don’t feel protected by the police,” as quoted by NBC News.

Taylor was shot to death by police officer Brad Miller, 49, on Friday, August 7 around 1:00 a.m. He was said to have driven a car which crashed into Buick dealership’s front window and engaged in a struggle with a police officer. He was unarmed.

The police in suburban Dallas responded to a burglary call on Friday around 1:00 a.m., and upon reaching the scene, officers saw someone drove a vehicle against the front window of Buick GMC. Miller approached the driver and the struggle began, said Arlington Police Department’s statement as reported.

Miller is currently on administrative leave as part of the department’s protocol when police officers are involved in cases such as this, according to a statement by Arlington Police. Also according to the statement, Miller has just graduated last March and joined Arlington Police in September.
