Bella Hadid Lyme Disease Battle: Model Bravely Shares Fighting Photos
On Wednesday, Bella Hadid, 19, shared a Snapchat of her arm with an IV hooked to it. The picture is decorated with two emojis: one of a thermometer and another of a cat sleeping with an alarm clock. The photograph suggests that the model is under treatment for her Lyme disease, which she shares with her mother Yolanda Hadid and brother Anwar Hadid.Advertisement
Bella Hadid recently opened up about her struggle with the tick-borne disease and shared an almost similar image on Snapchat at the end of last month. The image was captioned “Everyday.”
Hadid, model Gigi Hadid’s sister, was diagnosed with the disease with her brother Anwar in 2012, but it only came to light last October when Yolanda opened up about the illness at the first Global Lyme Alliance Gala in New York City, the Mail Online reported.
People reported that while accepting the “Power of One” award, the 52-year-old revealed that “watching my babies struggle in silence in order to support me in my journey, struck the deepest core of hopelessness inside of me.”
In January, Yolanda shared an image on Instagram of herself lying in bed beside her second daughter Bella Hadid, who again had an IV tethered to her arm.
“It is because of them that I continue to fight relentlessly……. I will not allow them to live a life of pain and suffering……. I will prevail and walk to the end of the earth to find a cure for them and millions of others debilitated by this invisible disease!!!!” she wrote, restating some of the phrases from her speech at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala.
However, all is not lost for Hadid. Mail Online reported that the model took to Instagram to share her towel-wrapped image from Mario Testino’s famed Towel Series. Bella Hadid has joined the league of models and actresses, including Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and Gigi Hadid, who posed for Testino, wrapped in towels. Hadid has now officially become Number 119 of the photographer’s Towel Series.
