Battlefield 1 is scheduled to release later this month. Here are a few things you need to know about EA DICE’s upcoming first-person shooter extravaganza.
Unlike what its name suggests, Battlefield 1 is the fifteenth installment in the smash-hit Battlefield franchise. It is the first World War 1 video game Electronic Arts published since Wings of Glory way back in 1994.
The game is inspired by historic events. Players have a slew of World War 1 weapons at their disposal. Armaments include trench clubs, sabres, flamethrowers, mustard gas, bolt-action rifles, automatic and semi-automatic rifles.
Players can also use armored trucks, biplane aircrafts, zeppelins, battleships and an assortment of tanks. The game map is more destructible than in past Battlefield installments while weapon customization is even more dynamic.
The Verge reported that Battlefield 1 will include a single-player campaign mode. It will be interesting to see how EA DICE will respond to the criticisms previous Battlefield games received for their lackluster single-player content.
The multiplayer mode of Battlefield 1 has eight distinct classes. These are Assault, Scout, Tanker, Support, Cavalry, Pilot, Medic and Elite. Each class provide their own unique abilities in the proverbial battlefield.
Game Spot noted that Battlefield 1 will feature a Lawrence of Arabia chapter known as Nothing Is Written. The game has a total of five war stories which aims to spotlight the lesser-known elements of the Great War.
Battlefield 1 will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on October 21. Those who pre-order the game’s $80 Early Enlister version can start playing it on October 18.
If you wish to order a physical copy of Battlefield 1, keep in mind that some video game retailers will be hosting 12 o’clock launch events. Check your local retailers if they will be opening their doors at midnight for Battlefield 1.
