The single-player campaign trailer for Battlefield 1 has been uploaded by Electronic Arts.
The game focuses on what it calls War Stories, where players get to play as different characters, each with his or her own unique skills and personal stories. According to the Battlefield website, the game focuses more on the personal side of war rather than the brutality of history.
The game developers believe that using merely one character to witness the multiple facets of war would betray a lack of respect to the material; hence, the story shall focus on different people forced to survive in a war-torn era.
One of the scenarios involves a young soldier working for a British Mark V Tank crew. This part of the game introduces players to the “social dynamic in the story,” where they acquire the trust of fellow crew members.
That being said, the game promises to provide open-world environments. Danny Berlin, lead designer, told Gamespot that Battlefield 1 will have “much more choice and variety than [it’s] done before.”
Battlefield 1 releases on October 21 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
