“Tell me… do you bleed?”
We’ve heard Batman threatening Superman in the trailer for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; and ever since, it has befuddled us. Many were eager to know the context of the threat, believing they would probably have to wait until the release of the film to know what it was.
But a new clip, unveiled on Conan by director Zack Snyder (from “Watchmen” and “300” fame), sheds light on why the Cape Crusader, portrayed by Ben Affleck, threatened Superman. The scene shows Superman, played by Henry Cavill (who reprises his role from 2003’s The Man of Steel), ripping off the Batmobile to reveal the Dark Knight within. The scene follows a crash after Superman interrupts Batman in the middle of a mission, falling from the sky and landing in front of the Batmobile.
“Next time they shine your light in the sky, don’t go to it,” Superman says. “The Bat is dead, bury it. Consider this mercy.”
ScreenRant reports that the new clip confirms Batman’s threat is for no one else but Superman. There were rumors circulating earlier that the widely talked about quotations being taken out of the context.
Following is the official synopsis of the movie, as found on Warner Bros.’s website:
“Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.”
Rest assured that there is still mystery in the air as to how the encounter will unfold. The movie opens in theaters March 25 this year, and in addition to Affleck and Cavill, it features Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amy Adams (reprising her role as Lois Lane from The Man of Steel) and Jason Momoa (Aquaman), among others.
