It was just last week when Batman V Superman released its latest trailer… and it shows a darker Batman. In fact, “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” producer, Charles Roven, revealed that the character would be more vicious the fans ever read or seen him before. Batman may just be a murderer in this one.
Producer Charles Roven of the upcoming “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” DC Comics movie sat down with Empire recently. During the interview, he was asked about how teasers for the movie show a darker side of Batman and what fans could expect out of him.
Roven responded, “[Batman] is not giving people a chance. He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.” He added, “He’s older, [and] he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess… He’s still lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”
The producer’s take on the darker Batman mirrored Ben Affleck’s statement. The actor revealed to Studio Cine Live, “[Batman] play[s] a bit more with the billionaire playboy side of the character. He lives that life at a full tilt. He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul. Moreover, past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness, and anger.”
Accordingly, Batman will not be the only superhero who decides to cross over to the dark side. It was also reported that Superman himself, played by Henry Cavil, would have a darker agenda for Gotham City in the movie.
In one of “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailers, Superman says, “Next time they shine your light in the sky, don’t go to it. The bat is dead. Bury it. Consider this mercy.” The character’s statement suggested that Superman has plans to destroy Batman’s supremacy in Gotham City.
As reported by Warner Bros., “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” will showcase an all-out war between DC Comics’ favorite superheroes. Gotham City is threatened by the powers of Superman, and Batman is willing to take the man down to ensure the safety of humans. However, while the heroes are at it, another threat surfaces that puts all of mankind in even greater danger.
