Some of the software upgrades of the Apple Watch Series 2 are it has a faster dual-core CPU, a GPU with twice the graphics performance. Its display is twice brighter — 1000 nits, and runs apps at 60 frames per second. Besides, it also has built-in GPS.
This time around, the Apple Watch Series 2 comes in an even wider array of styles. For luxury customers who are ready to pay thousands there is some good news as Apple is adding a white pearl-like ceramic model.
This watch is four times harder than the stainless steel model. Besides, there are also more Hermés bands to choose from for people who want to make a style statement through the Apple Watch Series 2.
The watch retains the same casing for the lower and middle-tier versions. The cheapest version comes with an aluminium case, while the next tier up has a stainless steel one.
Apple Watch Nike+
Apple also announced a new watch, thanks to its partnership with Nike. The special Apple Watch Nike+ has striking resemblance to a fusion of an Apple product with Nike’s discontinued FuelBand fitness tracker.
The Apple Watch Nike+ is smeant for athletes like runners and workout junkies. It comes in four colors like shades of gray and green.
The new Apple Watch Series 2 starts at $369 for the 38mm model and $399 for the 42mm model. The new white ceramic model is priced at $1249 for the 38mm model and $1299 for the 42mm model.
The Apple Watch Series 1 is getting an upgraded CPU, but the starting price will drop to $269. The price point for the Apple Watch Nike+ will also start at $369, but other details are not yet available, The Verge reports.
How To Pre-order
Preorders for the Apple Watch Series 2 begin Sep. 9. The watches will officially go on sale and begin shipping on Sep.16, just three days after the official release date of the new watchOS.
You can place your preorder using the Apple Store app on an iOS device or by visiting apple.com/watch. The Apple Watch Nike+ will launch in late October. There were no details available.
According to Tim Cook, Apple CEO, the product line became the No. 2 watch line by revenue just 18 months after launch, behind only Rolex products.
