According to market analysis, the new iPad Pro are selling like hot cakes in the market. A new data suggests that Apple sold more number of its iPad Pros than Microsoft’s Surface tablets. The boost in sales catapults Apple’s position to the number one slot as the world’s largest vendor in a declining tablet market.
According to IDC’s World Quarterly Tablet Tracker, Apple’s detachable tablets with unmatched performance are able to win the hearts of millions. IDC Research Director Jean Phillipe Bouchard recently announced through a press release, “We believe Apple sold just over two million iPad Pros while Microsoft sold 1.6 million Surface devices, a majority of which were Surface Pro and not the more affordable Surface 3. With these results, it’s clear that price is not the most important feature considered when acquiring a detachable-performance is.”
Jitest Ubrani who is the analyst at IDC also said that iPad Pros are the winner of this season overtaking Microsoft’s surface tablets and PC’s from other vendors. With a consistent number of iPad Pro sales, Apple is able to maintain a robust market share over other tech giants like Samsung, etc.
The Cupertino-based tech company earned 24.5 percent of the market share, leaving behind Samsung with 13.7 percent of market share. However, Amazon was third in the list with its Fire tablet selling massively during the holiday season. It accounted for 7.9 percent of the total market with Huawei and Lenovo lagging behind, reported Apple Insider.
Mr. Urbani of IDC points out that the transition from traditional tablets to detachable ones has brought positive opportunities for both Apple and Microsoft, However, he concludes, “Google’s recent foray into this space has been rather lackluster as the Android platform will require a lot more refinement to achieve any measurable success.”
Macrumors states that Apple is going to introduce a new iPad Air 3 during the March launch event. The device is expected to bring more profit to the company.
