What's This?

Now you can use your iPhone to capture the perfect shots with DSLR like photo quality. Apple fans will be excited to know that the Cupertino-based tech company is likely to introduce two versions of the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, one with a dual-camera design and another featuring a single iSight rear-facing camera.

Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple acquired Israeli camera technology company LinX Imaging for $20 million. The idea was to borrow the know-how of creating multi-aperture camera equipment used by LinX and include the technology in upcoming iOS devices.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently confirmed that the Apple iPhone 7 Plus will have a dual-lens camera system based on technology bought from LinX Imaging. The introduction of the new hardware is expected to bring new improvements in camera quality on Apple’s next flagship models.

The new camera technology will ensure improved indoor photos, enhanced low light photos, detailed depth maps of objects, low noise levels, better color uniformity, accuracy and zero shutter lag. In case of indoor shoots, the LinX camera sensor on the iPhone 7 Plus allows more light for creating sharper and clearer photos.

Linx technology improves low light performance of a phone camera by using multiple channels to enhance sensitivity of the camera. In low-light situations, the technology is able to maintain short exposure time to avoid motion blurring.

You can now use your iPhone to ensure 3D scanning of objects and sizing of objects as well. Linx’s multi-aperture cameras are capable of creating 3D point clouds of objects with complete background removal. Thus, it is easy to create 3D objects from a single frame or from a 3D model by using several frames joined together from different angles, reported Mac Rumours.

In the meantime, Apple has other plans for its iPhone 7 Plus. While a new camera technology with dual-lens feature is on the cards, the tech company plans to include a massive storage capacity up to 256GB in the phone. Apart from this, the device is expected to carry a 3,100mAH battery.
