AnTutu is best known for providing how smartphones compare on paper and every quarter, it publishes a report on how devices do so far. In its recent take on the list of smartphones, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge aren’t the first placers people thought they would be. Who won the first place?

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge garnered praises upon release. However, they were not enough for AnTuTu’s standards. As with other benchmark listings, some would think that great specs equal the best performance at once but that’s not the case all the time. Several factors could affect performance including how units are pieced together.

According to AnTuTu’s chart, the fastest device for the first quarter of 2016 is Xiaomi Mi 5. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and iPhone 6s rank second and third respectively. The chart shows that it was a close call among the top three smartphones as they averaged between 133,000 and 136,000. Other devices on the list include Huawei Mate 8, Meizu Pro 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, LETV Max, iPhone 6, Vivo Xplay 5 (Standard Edition). Samsung’s Galaxy S6 came in at the 10th spot.

Many people would see that the LG G5 is not part of the list because it was released on April 1. This means it is already part of the second quarter. As with other benchmark scores, this does not mean that the top spot means it is the best device around. The best handset still depends on the needs of the users.
