A different kind of direction is expected for “Ant-Man and The Wasp.”Advertisement
The movie’s director, Peyton Reed, revealed to ComicBook.com at the premiere of “Captain America: Civil War” that there would be some “heistiness” in the upcoming story of the Marvel Comics characters. “There will be some…there will be a little taste of heistiness,” he said adding, “but it’s … a little bit of different direction for ‘Ant-Man.’”
He noted, though, that it is still “a little too early” to confirm if some of those whom Ant-Man (portrayed by Paul Rudd) fought during the first installment of the film would re-appear in the sequel. “We’ve actually been holed up in the room writing the movie — myself, Paul Rudd, Adam McKay, Andrew Barrer and Gab Ferrari,” Reed shared about the anticipated film “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” “So we’re formulating the whole structure of the movie. “
“And I can’t really tell you too much yet, except there are going to be things in this movie that you’ve never seen in any movie before,” he added. “It’s going to be nuts!”
In the meantime, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared several exciting details that each fan could expect from the movie. For one, it will star the new Wasp Evangeline Lilly, according to Slash Film.“We did [talk about it],” he said. “Wasp was in early versions of that [big fight] sequence as well, but we said, ‘We want to save that for Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ because that’s so much what the movie is going to be about: her as a hero.”
He continued by saying, “We also wanted… Joe and Anthony [Russo] said they needed something big to turn the battle, and that just seemed like the greatest way to do that.” When prodded to comment if “Ant-Man and The Wasp” would still utilize the heist formula used in the first film, he had this to say, “I can’t say [what genre], but certainly we are in early days now of working on it. Paul Rudd is working on that story as we speak with Peyton Reed. We certainly want to stay true to what made it so unique and different, and we’ll see how that comes together.”
“Ant-Man and The Wasp” will be released on July 6, 2018, thus, more spoilers are expected to come out. Keep posted!
